Modernising a Recruitment Platform

The Situation

Trace Recruit is a specialist recruitment business operating in a competitive and fast-moving market. Like many businesses built in an earlier era of the web, their digital presence had not kept pace with the expectations of the clients and candidates they were serving. Their website — the primary touchpoint for a business whose reputation depends on first impressions — was outdated, difficult to navigate and no longer reflective of the quality and professionalism of the service behind it. As the recruitment market became increasingly digital-first, the gap between Trace Recruit's actual offering and how it was being presented online had become a business problem that needed to be addressed.

The Problem

The existing platform was creating friction at exactly the wrong moment — when potential clients and candidates were forming their first impression of the business. The site was slow, difficult to navigate on mobile devices and structured around the organisation's internal logic rather than the needs of the people using it. Content was outdated, the visual identity did not communicate the professionalism of the brand and there was no clear journey guiding visitors toward the actions that mattered most to the business. What We Did

BlueBow was engaged to lead the migration and redesign of the Trace Recruit digital platform. Our work included:

  • Discovery and requirements gathering — working closely with the Trace Recruit team to understand their business objectives, their users and what the new platform needed to achieve

  • Information architecture redesign — restructuring the site around user journeys rather than internal categories, making it easier for clients and candidates to find what they needed and take the next step

  • Content strategy and copywriting — refreshing and restructuring content to better reflect the Trace Recruit brand and speak directly to the needs of clients and candidates

  • Visual design and front end development — designing and building a modern, responsive platform that performed well across devices and reflected the professionalism of the business

  • Platform migration — moving the existing site to a new technical infrastructure with minimal disruption to the live service

  • Search engine optimisation — restructuring content, metadata and site architecture to improve organic visibility and ensure the new platform could be found by the right people

The Outcome

The redesigned platform delivered a modern, professional digital presence that accurately reflects the quality of the Trace Recruit service. The new site is faster, mobile-optimised and structured around the journeys of the clients and candidates using it — making it easier to navigate, easier to engage with and more effective as a business development tool. The platform has been in active use since delivery and continues to serve as the primary digital touchpoint for the business.
